Are you planning to study in France?  Do you know what kind of expenses you will have in the country? If you are on a tight budget, understanding the expenses is very important. Planning your expenses beforehand always helps. Here’s a breakdown of the expenses in Paris.

Tuition fees:

Most of France’s higher education is funded by the state, as per The Guardian. That is why the tuition fees in France is lesser when compared with other parts of Europe. A nominal fee of €189 per year is charged for a bachelor’s degree. For a master’s degree, a fee of €259, €611 to attend an engineering school, and €393 for a Ph.D. is charged.

Visa:

For international students, a Study Visa cost EU99. However, based on your nationality, there could be a few changes.

Accommodation:

For 900 square feet furnished apartment, the average monthly rent will be around €2,130 for a normal area and €2,636 for the posh area. For a smaller flat, say 480 square feet furnished studio apartment, the rent will be around €1,100 for a normal area and €2,636 for the posh area. An internet connection with 8 Mbps speed will cost you somewhere around €23 per month. Utilities in both normal and post areas will cost you around €109-179 per month.

Food:

On average, eating at a low-cost restaurant will cost you €14 per meal. So, if you are looking to have a three-course meal at a low-cost restaurant, you will have to pay around €27.50 per meal. A loaf of bread will cost you €1.60 and a bottle of milk will cost you €1.30.

Transportation:

A transport pass for a month will cost you €75. As a student, you will get a concession in terms of transportation. So, if you opt for an annual pass, it’ll cost you €342. Cycling can be a cheaper option. A subscription to an annual self-service bicycle will cost you €19-29.

Fun:

A movie ticket will cost an average of €11 per ticket. A monthly pass to a fitness club will cost you €48.35 per month. As a student, you will get subsidised rates to visit the city’s famous museums.
