Overseas Education is the latest trend among students. They are well aware of the expenses for studying and living abroad. While the expense for studying is usually managed beforehand, that of living often worries them. Hence, Overseas Students plan to get a job in the destination country while they are still studying.
However, it is essential to do a thorough research as to which country lets Students work alongside Overseas Education. According to The Hindu, policies and legislation change quite frequently. Hence Overseas Students should keep updating themselves with information.
The United States:
The United States provides Overseas Students with F-1 Visa. Students holding this Visa can work on-Campus for maximum 20 hours per week. During vacation, it doubles to 40 hours per week. This means students can only work for the institution they are studying in. To work off-campus, they would have to take permission from the Immigration department.
The United Kingdom:
Overseas Students can only work in the United Kingdom if they have the Tier 4 Visa. However, this is subject to conditions -
Australia:
In Australia, Overseas Students can work up to 40 hours every two weeks. During vacations, they can work full-time. The time constraint is less rigid in the country. Therefore, Australia is a favorable choice for Overseas Education. The minimum wage for every sector is decided by the Government. Hence, students should research which sector would be best for them to cover their expenses.
France:
Overseas Students with the residency card can work both on-campus and off-campus in France. Also, their University should give them access to the Social Security System. Students are allowed to work up to 964 hours per year. During vacation, they can work full time without exceeding the maximum hours allowed per year. However, they have to pay 20% of their salary on taxes.
Germany:
While pursuing Overseas Education in Germany, students can work for 120 days per year in a full-time job. The number doubles to 240 hours per year if they work part-time. While doing a language course, students can only work during the vacations.
