About Grenoble INP

Grenoble INP was established in 1900. It happened due to the creation of the Electrical Engineering Institute. The pioneers of the industrial sector of a century earlier discovered that after gaining the necessary knowledge in hydraulic power and creating initial applications for the industries. They also deduced the need for efficient engineers.

It was the first institute of its kind in France. Grenoble INP became a polytechnical institute and evolved continuously in scale. It was awarded the status of INPG or National Polytechnical Institute in 1971 and Louis Néel, the Nobel Laureate in Physics was its first President.

An institute with honors

The Grenoble Institute of Technology has been given the honor of being a “European University” authorized by the European Commission. Along with six other technical universities in Europe, the Grenoble Institute of Technology has created an alliance termed UNITE or University Network for Innovation, Technology, and Engineering.

The aim of the project is to develop a campus, which is trans-European in nature. It introduces trans-European study modules, to boost scientific cooperation between the participants and to enhance knowledge transfer between the nations. The alliance consists of:

  • Aalto University
  • Technische Universität Darmstadt
  • Royal Institute of Technology
  • Polytechnic University of Catalonia
  • Polytechnic University of Turin
  • University of Lisbon

Grenoble INP is currently contributing to the one of  biggest nanosciences research centers in Europe, that is, Minatec Project. Since December 2014, the institute has been associated with Community Grenoble Alpes University.

Such attributes of Grenoble INP make it the most sought institute to study in B.Tech France as well as to study abroad.
