A UI/UX Designer with Accenture, Shane Murphy has worked as Design Lead for nearly 3 years. He has focused on user-cantered design methodologies and principles.

Murphy was working in the Construction industry until 2008. It was in this year that he took a leap of faith by quitting his job to enrol in a 4 year Degree. This is in Fine Art at the NACD - National College for Art and Design.

Shane Murphy started making the tough transition to a professional artist from an art student after graduation. He was reasonably successful at it, as quoted by the Silicon Republic.

Witnessing the digital industry evolution Murphy took up 1-year Honours Degree. This was in Digital Innovation, Design, and Technology with Dublin Institute of Technology. He joined Accenture through its graduate program upon successful completion of the course.

Though it appears as a smooth journey, there were challenges said, Murphy. This made him nervous about his overseas career pivot.

Most designers are plagued by the imposter-syndrome that is ever-present. There were also very legitimate as well as practical concerns initially, says the UX Designer.

I have taken the road that is mostly less travelled says Murphy. Many things have been learned by me in a hard way. Those looking for an overseas career pivot must view blog posts and resources online, says Murphy.

Discover something that you love to do, says the UX Designer. Do your homework, study your options and then outline what must be done to make it work, adds Murphy.

Many meet-ups happen around Dublin, he says. These are amazing opportunities to meet and network with individuals with similar experiences, says Murphy. People are always ready to help and do not miss a chance to get advice, he explains.

My experience as an artist also helped, says Murphy. Acquire feedback from other designers and users as a UX Designer. This will help you to achieve enhanced robust service or application for your customer or client, he adds.
