Though protectionist policies may be affecting Indians in certain Gulf Countries, jobs are opening up in other areas, aver experts.
This was reiterated by Amar Ganeshan, director-global solutions, Kelly Services. He was quoted by techgig.com as saying that the trend for Foreign Jobs is not looking down right now.
Apart from Gulf countries, the strict visa policies adopted by the US, the UK, Australia and others should not be construed as bad news, recruiters say.
A representative of Aman Overseas, a foreign staffing company, said that even as the job market is affected by economic gloom, jobs can still be found overseas for Indians. According to him, the number of people contacting their company for jobs has only increased. Aman Overseas is said to be getting 30-40 enquiries every day for foreign placements.
As far as Gulf is concerned, jobs are still available in IT and manufacturing sector. Vira International Placements said that the number of vacancies in Gulf countries has certainly gone down, but hiring is still on. It feels that once the economy rebounds, the job numbers will rise again.
Ganeshan said Foreign Workers in sectors such as life sciences and pharmaceuticals are still being recruited. He feels that the only sectors where recruiting has plummeted a bit are petroleum, Manufacturing, oil and gas and construction-related segments.
TimesJobs.com data reveals that apart from Gulf countries, most jobs are available in Australia, Canada, Germany and Hong Kong. The most sought after occupations are in sectors of IT/telecom, teaching/education and administration. The industries where most hiring is happening are healthcare, consultancy projects, engineering and projects.
