Ireland Work Visas

The Government has relaxed rules for Ireland Work Visas to stimulate the Construction industry in the nation. This move has been welcomed by the CIF - Construction Industry Federation.

The Employment Permit system has now been modified by the Government of Ireland. This is to allow a number of non-EU workers into the nation to address the scarcity of workers in Construction. It is also applicable to Customs Duties and Controls. It is even as Ireland grapples with the housing crisis and Brexit.

The announcement to relax Ireland Work Visas has been welcomed by CIF. It said that the sector has been expanding at the rate of 1,000 jobs monthly after 2013. The changes will assist in speeding up of infrastructure and housing delivery. It will also help to address the scarcity of workers, added CIF.

Tom Parlon the Director General of CIF said that the initiatives will help us to cater to the pending demands. This is for construction activity across Ireland, added Parlon.

Parlon said that CIF has made efforts to address the shortage of labour by:

  • Up-skilling individuals on the live register
  • Campaigning for return of emigrant workers to Ireland
  • Encouraging youth to work in the Construction industry

The new rules will permit the arrival of Construction experts from outside the EU said Parlon. It will enable them to seek jobs in Ireland and access Work Visas, he added.

CIF welcomes the announcement to modify eligibility criteria for Ireland Work Visas said Parlon. We believe that this will permit the economy of Ireland to grow and meet NDP targets, he added.

There are several apprenticeships and training courses available for training workers in the labour market said Heather Humphreys TD. Combining with them, the new rules will assist in easing pressure on the Construction sector, she added. Ms. Humphreys is the Business, Enterprise and Innovation Minister in Ireland.
