1,835 Indian IT Workers were nominated by Ontario by September 2017, which were the highest nominations. Chinese received the second highest nominations with 1, 608. Overseas Software Engineers and Designers received highest nominations from Ontario in 2017. These statistics have been revealed by the latest report of Ontario province in its strategy for immigration.
The report elaborates that Ontario has made crucial gains with respect to the nomination of Overseas Workers, especially IT. Its allocation has been increased to 6000 in 2017 from 1, 300 in 2013, as quoted by the CIC News. Ontario also received an additional allocation for nominations from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada recently as it already exhausted its allocation of 6000 nominations for 2017.
The top 5 job categories nominated by OINP were led by Designers and Software Engineers. These were followed by Interactive media developers and Computer programmers. The report explained that most of the nominations were for ICT workers. Indian IT Workers received the highest nominations out of all.
Ontario nominates overseas workers and their families for Canada PR through Immigrant Nominee Program Ontario. Entrepreneurs, Overseas Students, and skilled workers are targeted by this program.
Ontario further elaborated in its latest immigration report that it has two priorities for strategy. One is to better the OINP. The second is to advocate a crucial increase in its allocation of nominations.
In this regard, it pointed out the launching of 2 new streams for immigration. Skilled Trades Stream Express Entry and In-Demand Skills Stream pilot Employer Job Offer. It said that this is an evidence of its efforts to enhance the response of OINP to the needs of the labor market in 2017.
