With 120,000 Study Visas to UK, Indians rank No.1

Home Office data from the UK

The recent Home Office data from the UK reveals the number of study visas issued for main applicants by the country in 2023. The data reveals that 601,000 sponsored study visas were issued. 57,673 study visas were issued to the main applicants. The home office said the 2023 was the second highest on record for a calendar year, 70% higher than the pre-pandemic year of 2019.

India remained the top position as the largest market for study visas issued to main applicants. 120,110 student visas were issued to Indian main applicants, accounting for over 26.2% of all visas granted.

According to Home Office data, the approval rate for sponsored study visas, including both main applicants and their dependents, was 96% in 2023.

A recently conducted survey by the global higher education-focused agency group IDP Education of prospective students investigated the impact of recent policy changes in the UK, Canada and Australia.
