The US has extended the premium work authorization processing for a few international students.
As per the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), certain F-1 students will be allowed to opt for premium processing services.
Below types of students can request a premium processing upgrade:
USCIS enabled filing Form I-907 and Request for Premium Processing Service online for international students falling under these categories.
The premium processing starts on March 6, and a few categories will begin on April 3.
Beginning March 6, Form I-907 requests will be accepted by the USCIS via paper form or online for students having a pending Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization if they are filing under any one of the following categories:
Beginning April 3, Form I-907 requests will be accepted by the USCIS via paper form or online for students belonging to the above categories when filed together with Form I-765.
Requests for a pending Form I-765, if received before March 6, will be rejected by USCIS. The request for an initial or concurrently filed Form I-765 received before April 3 will also be rejected by the USCIS.
The Biden Administration expanded the premium processing of some of the critical categories of green card applicants and some categories of visas earlier this year in January. A special focus was on visas related to foreign student training.
The category expansions are being carried out in phases starting with the premium processing of EB-1 and EB-2 applications for Green cards.
This was in addition to all the Form I-140 petitions filed previously under an E13 multinational manager and executive classification or E21 classification as a member of professions with advanced degrees or exceptional ability seeking a National Interest Waiver (NIW).
