USCIS increased the number of H-2B Visas by 64,716 for the year 2024. This will help workers in the US and other foreign workers. The H-2B program includes an additional 20,000 visas to workers from Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, and Honduras. An addition of 44,716 visas will be provided for foreign workers who received H-2B visas.
The short-term final rule also promotes the Biden Administration’s pledge, under the Los Angeles Declaration, to inflate legal path as an alternative to incorrect migration. The DHS and DOL are strengthening robust protections for US employer’s needs to fill the vacant positions with American workers.

The H-2B program allows employers to recruit foreigners to perform non-agricultural services in the US for a limited time. The employment should be temporary, one-time or only when necessary. Employers must take US test before getting H-1B visa. Certificate has be issued by DOL. The maximum period is stay of 3 years. An Individual has to leave the US after 3 years.
