Law courses abroad are a significant component of study overseas.

Now, law courses available vary from country to country. Likewise, the curriculum as well as the content covered is not the same across all foreign universities and law schools.

To be able to practise Law as a lawyer, the individual will have to qualify for and clear the Bar licensure exam.

To qualify for the Bar exam, the Law degree must have been obtained from a ‘recognized’ university.

International students taking up Law courses abroad – with the intention of either securing a good job overseas or establishing themselves as a renowned lawyer in their home country – after securing their Law degree, should bear in mind that the university must be recognized and accredited.

Only a Law course from a recognized and accredited university will enable the individual to –

  • Secure a good job, and
  • Qualify for the Bar licensure exam [both in India and abroad].

Without the university being accredited, the individual will not qualify for sitting their Bar licensure exam.

Hence, when embarking upon a study overseas journey that involves taking up a Law course, always ensure that the university has the requisite recognition.
