The US prosecutors have alleged that the US Student Visa scam operated from 2017 February till 2019 January. A conspiracy was hatched by the 8 defendants among themselves. This is for unfairly assisting 100s of overseas nationals to remain and work unlawfully in the US. It was by actively hiring them for enrolling in a private University in Detroit metro.
However, the conspirators were not aware of one important fact. It was that the University was operated by special agents of Homeland Security Investigation. This was as a part of the undercover operation, as quoted by the Times Group.
The supposed University of Farmington entrapped almost 600 overseas students of whom the majority are from India. These youngsters were aware that they would not be attending any actual classes. They would also not make academic progress or earn credits towards an actual degree. These had willingly participated in the US Student Visa scam.
100 students have already been arrested accused in the immigration fraud. Most of them face prosecution or at the minimum deportation.
