U.S. held the third lottery for H-1B visas to reach the FY2022 numerical allocations

Pleasing news for H-1B visa holders! In order to meet the FY2022 numerical allocations, the U.S. held the third lottery for H-1B visa. On November 19, 2021, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services has revealed its resolution, which determines that they need to take the additional registrations to meet the FY2022 numerical allocations, along with advanced degree exception.

 

Third H-1B lottery 

The U.S. conducted the third H-1B lottery to achieve the numerical cap in the coming year, 2022.

 

“On November 19, we selected from among previously submitted electronic registrations using a random selection process. The petition filing period based on registrations selected on November 19 will begin on November 22, 2021, and close on February 23, 2022. Individuals with selected registrations will have their my USCIS accounts updated to include a selection notice, which includes details about when and where to file,” it said in a statement.

 

The USCIS received adequate applications after completing the first round of selections. This year in July, the U.S. immigration has held the second round of invitations, as the first round of invitations didn’t meet the sufficient number. The USCIS follows a year starting from October and ending with September. The applications which got selected for FY2022 are eligible to start their work from October 2022. Every year the U.S., placed as the No. 4 job market country, issues 65,000 new H-1B visas, along with 20,000 reserved applicants who have completed their Master's degree in any of the places in the US. Early in 2021, the USCIS has taken a second lottery to make up the H-1B numerical cap for FY2021. As per the records from the agency, it received 2,75,000 petitions for FY2021, of which 67 percent were from Indians.
