The UK officials said that they would process applications of Chinese students applying for its Tier 4 visas in the Asian country’s visa application centres within 24 hours during the period 8 August-14 October.
This is reportedly the first time that the British ‘super priority’ visa service is being extended to the student applicants.
This 10-week pilot period will see a total of 100 super priority appointments being made available to Tier 4 applicants every day, The Shanghai Daily quotes the UK Consulate-General in Shanghai as saying. The service would cost £750, which is now equivalent to $990.
The UK officials said that they would increase the number of daily slots for the service based on the demand and if this service proves to be successful, chances are that it may be made permanent, it was revealed.
In the interim period, students could avail the 3-5 day priority visa service in all of China’s 15 visa application centres. Beijing and Guangzhou’s application centres would also participate in the trial, it was reported.
The UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) sees up to 800 applications being submitted for the Tier 4 visas per day during the peak application period, statistics from the UK reveal.
The UKVI is said to have received about 3,000 super priority visa service applications from the students in the Dragon County until the year ending March 2016.
