Turkey

Denis Ersoz, Culture and Tourism Counsellor at Turkey Embassy has announced that no visa-on-arrival rule on Indians has been relaxed. On October 28, it has changed its policy of issuing no Visas on arrival (VOA) to many nations including India. According to it, Indian Immigrants holding valid Visa from the US, UK, Schengen and Ireland can apply for Turkish e-Visa.

Indian Immigrants can use the Turkish Government website to obtain the e-Visa. It would require a fee of $44.5 and take nearly 3 minutes of time. After getting the e-Visa on mail, they can fly to Turkey with the printout.

The e-Visa was launched back in April 2013. It is subject to certain conditions. Let’s have look at them -

  • The Visa is valid for the purpose of commerce or tourism
  • The travel documents including passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival
  • Payments can be made online through any credit or debit card
  • One may apply for group e-Visas if required
  • Immigrants holding valid Visa can stay in the country for 90 days without needing Residence Permit
  • If they are planning to stay for 90 days, their travel documents should be valid for at least 150 days
  • If they stay for 30 days, the travel documents should be valid for at least 90 days

Indian Immigrants not having valid Visa or Residence Permit from those countries would have to go for sticker Visa. The single entry Visa fee is Rs 3940. As quoted by The Times of India, the two Visas are same in nature. With either of them, Indian Immigrants can enter from any border gate to Turkey.

Mr. Ersoz further added that for moving through the International transit area, travelers would not need a Transit Visa. He advised travelers to confirm the matter with concerned airlines company. As long as they are within the International area, no Visa is needed.

Turkey’s earlier decision to stop providing VOA had worried Immigrants from many nations. However, in October, the Embassy announced relaxation on Indian Immigrants. That was a reason for them to breathe easy.

The Turkish Embassy website announced that e-Visa kiosks at Istanbul airport have been closed. Immigrants have to get the e-Visa online before departure. Citizens of India, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives are allowed to apply for it.
