Thailand has launched its e-Visa on arrival application

Thailand recently launched its e-Visa on arrival application which will significantly cut down processing times. The application is run by the Thai Immigration in collaboration with SAMART Group.

The e-Visa on arrival facility is available at the Suvarnabhumi, Phuket, Don Mueang, and Chiang Mai airports. The facility will soon also be available at Krabi airport.

This application is currently available to the following countries:

1. India
2. Andorra
3. China
4. Bhutan
5. Fiji
6. Ethiopia
7. Maldives
8. Kazakhstan
9. Papua New Guinea
10. Mauritius
11. Saudi Arabia
12. San Marino
13. Ukraine
14. Uzbekistan
15. Taiwan

Thailand also plans on extending the e-Visa on arrival application facility to Great Britain and France too. As per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand will also start accepting visa applications online from next year. This is in addition to the e-Visa on arrival facility.

The e-Visa service would be available in Beijing on 15^th Feb. In other Chinese cities, it will be available from 1^st March.

Britain and France would be able to avail the e-Visa on arrival facility from 1^st April.

Thailand plans to roll out this facility to all its embassies and consulates in the coming 3 years. This service will allow travellers to Thailand to apply for a 60-day Tourist Visa online. Payments will be accepted through Card, Internet banking, and QR Code. The payment support would be provided by the K-Bank of Thailand.

The requirements for a Thai Tourist Visa, as per The Nation are:

1. You should have a valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months
2. You should submit a complete application form
3. Photographs as per specification
4. You should provide proof that you will exit Thailand within the visa validity
5. Proof of funds which could be around 20,000 baht per person
