British Columbia has extended its Tech Pilot program up to 2020. This was announced by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program on 3 June.

BC PNP had launched the Tech Pilot in 2017. It offers a fast-track route to Canada PR for overseas talents. This is if they have a job offer in any one of the 29 qualified tech occupations of the pilot. It must have duration of minimum 1 year and have a minimum 120 days left on at when the application is submitted.

Qualified candidates in the International Graduates and Skilled Workers categories are offered invitations to apply in draws held every week. This is in the BC PNP’s Express Entry B.C. and Skills Immigration streams.

Candidates in Express Entry who are successful in their application for nomination from BC PNP get 600 additional CRS points. This offers them a priority for an invitation for Canada PR Visa.

BC PNP said that it is extending the Tech Pilot to enable employers in the province to be able to continuously hire and retain overseas talents. It also permits the tech sector in the province to attract and maintain the talents needed for further growth of the sector.

BC PNP Tech Pilot was launched in 2017 as the demand for tech talent in the province was far exceeding the supply. It supports attracting skilled workers and to cater to the demand for tech talents. This is by expanding the talent pool of skilled workers in British Columbia, as quoted by the CIC News.

The features of the BC PNP Tech Pilot program are:

Committed concierge service

Employers in the tech sector have access to appropriate immigration information.

Invitations for tech registrants to apply every week

Employers in the tech sector have timely access to skilled workers in the 29 qualified tech occupations.

Priority processing of applications

BC PNP has a dedicated team for Tech pilot. The tech applications in the 29 occupations are assigned by the next business day. Most of the applications are processed within 2 to 3 months as per BC PNP.

Determined engagement and outreach

BC PNP has events and sessions customized for the tech sector. It is inclusive of one-on-one support for employers. Invitations are offered every week by BC PNP to eligible registrants. These must have a valid job offer in any one of the 29 occupations that are eligible.
