The Swedish Migration Authority issued the highest number of residence permits for work in January 2023. It has issued a total of 2720 residence permits for work purposes only.
The authority has also issued 1,858 residence permits to people who applied for family reunification. The total number of applications received was 1887 in January 2023, and currently, there are total pending cases of 32,822.
Among the total residence permits issued last month, the third largest part - 1,630 were given only for asylum purposes. A significant portion of these permits was awarded to the Ukrainians who fled the war. Also, Sweden granted permits to citizens from various countries who left their homeland for safety. These permits come under the Temporary Protection Directive.
The Migration Authority of Sweden provided 915 residence permits to students for study purposes.

The EU/EES nationals have also been issued 660 residence permits by the country. Another 79 permits were given to those who fall under impediment to enforcement.
People residing in Sweden under Temporary Protection Directive must apply for extensions until March 4. And, applicants must submit their applications through e-service.
