The numbers of overseas applicants to become a Canadian student is increasing every year. If you are also one among the hopefuls, below is the 5 step process to become an overseas Canadian student:
The goal of becoming an overseas Canadian student is not achieved overnight. It is good if you can start at least a year in advance. Get to know the diverse requirements of courses get familiar with all the required documents and start collating them.
You will be required to select and apply for a specific major while applying for the Canadian universities, as quoted by the Study International. Unlike the UK, it is more flexible if you decide to change the course. It must be ensured that you are applying for an institution that is included in the list of DLI - Designated Learning Institutes.
The best bet for your English language proficiency test will be IELTS. It is accepted by all major colleges and universities in Canada. TOEFL is another option. You will need a test for French language proficiency if you are looking to study in a part of Canada that speaks French.
Contact the universities that you are interested in and they will send the application packs. This will explain the process in detail. Confirm with the university if you are accepted and you will be sent a Letter of Acceptance.
You can Apply for the Student Visa online or even personally at the nearest Visa Application Center. The payment of visa fee will have to be done.
