Singapore Passport has emerged as the most powerful in the world along with the Japan passport in the latest Henley Passport Index ranking. Both these passports offer VOA – Visa on Arrival access to 189 nations in the world.
Singapore and Japan obtained access to Uzbekistan earlier in 2018. With this, they pushed Germany to the second rank for the first time after 2013, as quoted by the Independent Co UK.
All the world passports are ranked by the HPI as per the number of nations their holders can arrive without a prior visa. The ranking is based on International Air Transport Association data. It is supported by Henley & Partners through their ongoing research.
The 3rd rank is shared by South Korea with 6 EU nations. These include France, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Finland, and Sweden. The US and UK both remain at the fourth place. They share the 4th rank with Portugal, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, and Norway.
Canada is ranked at the 5th position jointly with Ireland, Switzerland, and Belgium. Australia has been ranked 6th.
Henley & Partners Group Chairman Dr. Christian H. Kälin says that passport is not just a simple travel document, it is much more. It represents the access to overseas opportunities or a hurdle to the same, adds Dr. Christian H. Kälin.
