As part of the new integration services, prospective Quebec immigrants will now have an immigration officer assigned to them. These officers will follow their cases step-by-step.

Simon Jolin-Barrette, Immigration Minister of Quebec, announced details of the Personalized Support Program on 8th August. The new Personalized Support Program is a part of the immigration law reforms of Quebec. The program is designed to help new immigrants successfully integrate into Quebec society.

To immigrate to Quebec, you must first get a CSQ (Quebec  Selection Certificate) issued by MIDI (Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion). After getting a CSQ, you must apply to the IRCC for a Permanent Residence.

As soon as you receive your CSQ, you will have a designated immigration officer and access to resources. Prospective immigrants would be informed about the regions of Quebec. They will also receive support to get their professional qualifications recognized in Canada. They will also be given the option to take French lessons.

On arrival, new immigrants will be welcomed at the airport. They will be invited to meet with a designated integration assistance officer within 5 days to create a customized action plan for them.

There would be 4 steps in the new process:

  1. Arrival
  2. Francization
  3. Integration into the labour market
  4. Integration into the community

You will also have access to an optional course to learn about the job market and socio-cultural realities in Quebec. Those who participate will also get an incentive of $185 from the province.

Mr Jolin-Barrette said that each immigrant has a unique experience and needs. Hence, there cannot be one integration pathway for all. The new program will help new immigrants get access to appropriate resources and support and services as per their individual needs.

Mr Jolin-Barrette also said that the new program represents $20 million in investment. The program will also create 84 new Govt. jobs, 6 co-ordinators and 74 Integration Support Officers, as per CIC News.
