Quebec announces 3 new pilot programs

On March 3, 2021, the government of Quebec has announced 3 pilot programs for meeting “the specific needs of Québec’s job market”.

As per the official intimation, the Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie and Minister of Immigration, Francization and Integration, Nadine Girault, have announced the publication in the Gazette officielle du Québec of the “Regulation to make three permanent immigration pilot programs”.

Pilot Program	Description	Basic Eligibility	Effective date	Maximum number of foreign nationals that might be selected under the program
For workers in food processing	Allows an individual to settle in Quebec permanently if they are a temporary foreign worker in the food processing sector in Quebec.	·         Proficiency in spoken French ·         Work experience in an eligible job as well as sector ·         Hold an eligible job in an eligible sector in Quebec at the time of submitting their application	From March 24, 2021 until January 1, 2026.	550 per year
For orderlies   [Note. As per the Regulation, for the purposes of this program, the terms ‘orderly’ and ‘profession’ mean the profession of nurse aide, orderly and patient service associate, as per the National Occupational Classification [NOC] code 3413.	Allows an individual to settle within Quebec permanently if they are a temporary foreign worker that is working in Quebec as an orderly.	·         Proficiency in spoken French ·         Work experience as an orderly in Quebec ·         Hold a job as an orderly in Quebec at the time of submitting their application	From March 31, 2021 until January 1, 2026.	550 per year
For workers in the artificial intelligence, information technologies and visual effects sectors	Allows an individual to settle in Quebec permanently if they are – ·         A foreign worker in visual effects and information technologies, or ·         A foreign worker or a Quebec graduate in Artificial Intelligence [AI].	·         Proficiency in spoken French [if applying under the Francophone profile] ·         Hold or have accepted a job in the visual effects, information technologies, or AI sectors.	From April 22, 2021 until January 1, 2026.	550 per year   [Note. 275 –Québec graduates and temporary workers in AI   275 – Foreignworkers in the sectors of visual effects and  information technologies.

Those meeting the conditions of any of the pilot programs might submit an application for permanent selection and obtain their Certificat de sélection du Québec [CSQ].

Quebec has updated its list of professions eligible for simplified processing. The list is effective February 24, 2021.
