Overseas Investors in Nigeria are demanding more skilled workers. This has been revealed at the 3rd German -Austrian –Swiss Business Outlook conference held at Lagos. The meeting concluded indicating that there will be increased job prospects in the Nigerian labor market.

The widely held perception is that Nigeria lacks in job opportunities said Dr. Marc Lucassen. Contrary to this, most firms in the nation are seeking more skilled workers, he explained. Dr. Lucassen is the German Industry and Commerce delegate in Nigeria.

Nigeria has a high demand for skilled workers, said Dr. Lucassen. His remarks are based on surveys held using macro-economic factors. It also takes in to account the studies for ease of doing business in Nigeria. Figures from the appropriate organization have also been collated by him, as quoted by the This Day Live.

A huge market potential exists in Nigeria for overseas investors said the delegate. Improvement has been recorded in the nation with respect to the registration of firms and access to credit options. Its economy has also recovered of late, added Dr. Lucassen. However, there are areas for improvement too. These include the supply of power, infrastructure, and security in specific areas, he added.

Nigeria’s Austrian Embassy Commercial Counsellor Ms. Nella Hengstler said that exports of the nation are steadily increasing. Nigeria remains one of the top business destinations in Africa, she added.

Consulate General of Switzerland Consul General Mr. Yves Nicolet said that around 35 overseas firms will arrive in Nigeria by October 2018. This revelation was the highlight of the meeting.

Germany Deputy Consul General at Lagos Mrs. Alexandra Herr elaborated on the rationale for business ties aiming to promote bilateral collaboration. She also explained regarding the strategy to attract more overseas investors to Nigeria in her opening remarks.
