The Ontario government has officially confirmed that the new Ontario minimum wage increase 2024 will be effective from 1st October 2024. The minimum wage will be increased from $16.55 to $17.20 per hour. The minimum wage rates are regulated annually to reflect the rate of inflation. Workers who work 40 hours per week can expect an annual pay increase of up to $1,355. British Columbia has the highest minimum wage of $17.40 per hour.

The minimum wage for workers in Ontario has increased by $2.95 per hour.

The special minimum wage rates have been fixed for Students under 18. Students who work 28 hours or less than that as a part time job during their school will have the minimum wage increase from $15.60 to $16.20.

The minimum wage for homeworkers in Ontario will be increased from $18.20 to $18.90 per hour. Homeworkers who work from home have seen the highest hourly rise of $3.20 in 2024, from $15.70 to $18.90 per hour.
