The Einstein Visa or the EB1 Visa of the US is an immigrant visa available to people with extraordinary talent. Many Oscar winners, Olympians and Pulitzer Prize winners have migrated to the US on this visa.
The US grants up to 140,000 employment-based visas every year. There are 5 categories of such visas but only the Einstein Visa does not need you to have a job lined up in the US.
As per the USCIS website, the eligibility of the Einstein Visa is as follows:
-Arts
-Sciences
-Business
-Education
-Athletics
However, it is not clear as to how many Einstein Visas have been granted in recent years. The USCIS said that it also does not publish geographical statistics on the Einstein Visa nor its sub-category, the E1 Visa. The E1 Visa is awarded to extraordinary researchers and professors and Managers or Executives of multinational companies.
In 2018, the US granted 39,521 E1 Visas which was the lowest since 2013. However, it was 14,300 more E1 Visas than was issued in 2011.
The EB1 or the Einstein Visa is the fastest way to obtain a Permanent Residence in the US among all other employment-based categories.
