Manitoba held its latest invitation round on 12th March inviting 222 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.
The latest draw was the 85th EOI (Expression of Interest) draw of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program. Candidates were invited under the following categories:
Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 191 invitations issued
Skilled Workers Overseas: 13 invitations issued
International Education Stream: 18 invitations issued
The 12th March draw also invited 17 candidates who had a valid profile in the Federal Express Entry Pool.
The Federal Express Entry Program is the most popular pathway of immigration to Canada. It manages the applicant pool of Canada’s main economic migration programs- FSWP, CEC and FSTC.
Eligible candidates in the Express Entry Program are given points according to the Comprehensive Ranking System. Points are awarded for factors like age, education, Canadian education, work experience, Canadian work experience, language proficiency in English and French etc. Those who score the most receive an invitation to apply for Canada PR through regular draws held by the IRCC. The Federal Express Entry Program draws are typically held at a gap of two weeks.
A provincial nomination increases the CRS score of a candidate by 600 points. Anyone who obtains a provincial nomination, thus, is guaranteed an invitation to apply for Canada PR in the subsequent draws of the Express Entry Program.
To be eligible for an invitation by Manitoba, you must submit a separate EOI to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program. Also, you must have work experience in an in-demand occupation in Manitoba, among other eligibility requirements.
For both the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Overseas categories, you must submit an EOI to the MPNP. Eligible EOIs are given points for factors like age, education, work experience etc. out of 1000 points on the Manitoba points grid.
The minimum required score in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream was 496 in the 12th March draw. In the Skilled Workers Overseas category, it was 672.
If you are a foreign worker with skills that can support the labour market needs of Manitoba, you may apply under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. However, you must be able to demonstrate a connection to the province of Manitoba. The “connection” could be family or friends living in Manitoba, previous education or work experience in Manitoba or an invite through the Strategic Recruitment Initiative of the MPNP.
You do not have to be present in Manitoba to apply under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream.
The 191 candidates invited in the 12th March draw under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream had a full-time job offer from an employer in Manitoba.
If you are an international student who has graduated from a Manitoba University, you may apply under the International Education stream.
