Manitoba conducted the latest draw on 17th January inviting 249 skilled workers and international graduates. The 17th January draw was the second Manitoba PNP draw of 2020.

Here is the breakup of the invitations issued in the 17th January draw:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 192
  • Skilled Workers Overseas: 34
  • International Education Stream: 23

The 17th January draw was the 81st draw for the Manitoba PNP since it began in April 2014.

Invitations to Express Entry candidates

Out of the 249 invites issued, 22 invitations went to Express Entry candidates.

The Express Entry Program manages the applications for three of the main Economic-Class Immigration Programs of Canada. They are:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

Express Entry candidates are scored using the Comprehensive Ranking System on factors like age, education, work experience, language proficiency etc. Candidates with the highest scores are invited to apply for PR through regular draws. A provincial nomination adds 600 more points to your CRS score which guarantees an invite in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

To be considered for an invite, an Express Entry candidate must have work experience in an in-demand occupation in Manitoba. Express Entry candidates also must submit a separate EOI to Manitoba PNP.

Expression of Interest

To be considered for an invite under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas categories, you must submit an EOI to the Manitoba PNP.

Eligible EOIs are scored out of 1000 points on factors like a connection to Manitoba, age, education, language skills, work experience etc. Highest-ranked candidates are invited in regular draws held by the Manitoba PNP.

The lowest-scoring candidate invited in the Skilled Worker in Manitoba category had a score of 545. The lowest score in the Skilled Workers Overseas category was 708.

Skilled Workers Overseas and Skilled Workers in Manitoba

The Skilled Workers Overseas category allows the Manitoba PNP to select candidates who meet the labour market needs of the province. However, eligible candidates must be able to prove a connection to the province of Manitoba.

It is not necessary for a candidate to be living in Manitoba to be eligible.

34 candidates were invited under the Manitoba Strategic Recruitment Initiative through the Skilled Workers Overseas category.

Eligible candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream must be working in a full-time, permanent job in Manitoba.

Candidates who have graduated from a higher educational institution in Manitoba and have in-demand skills may be eligible under the International Education stream.

There are three categories under the International Education stream:

  • Graduate Internship Pathway
  • Career Employment Pathway
  • Student Entrepreneur Pathway
