Manitoba Canada

In a Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) draw held on December 6, Manitoba has invited 221 immigration candidates for being provincially nominated for Canadian permanent residency.

The 221 invitations, or Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA), were sent as per the following distribution –

Stream LAAs sent
Skilled Workers in Manitoba 165
International Education Stream 33
Skilled Workers Overseas 23

Out of the 221 that were sent LAAs, 18 had a profile in the federal Express Entry pool.

With the latest draw held on December 6, MPNP has invited 7,362 so far in 2019.

To be considered for being provincially nominated by Manitoba, an Express Entry candidate must possess eligible work experience – a minimum of 6 months’ work experience – in any of the occupations that are on the In-Demand Occupations List.

Candidates are also required to submit proof of being accepted into the federal Express Entry pool. For this, they will have to supply their Job Seeker Validation Code as well as a valid Express Entry ID.

Moreover, a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) will have to be submitted to the MPNP.

There are various other criteria to be fulfilled as well.

By Expression of Interest or EOI to the MPNP is meant creating an online profile that ranks an individual on a score of 1,000. Points are given based on various factors, such as – work experience, Manitoba connections, education, etc.

In the latest December 5 draw, the minimum EOI scores that were issued LAAs was –

Stream Minimum EOI Score in December 5 draw
Skilled Worker Overseas Stream 718
Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream 522

A set number of candidates with highest EOI scores are sent LAAs.

The basic criteria for the above-mentioned streams include –

Skilled Worker Overseas Stream

  • Allows MPNP to select and nominate skilled foreign workers that can help in supporting the labour market in Manitoba.
  • Established connection to Manitoba is needed. This can be either by having done previous education or by possessing work experience in Manitoba, or by having friends or close family in the province. Alternatively, an invitation through the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of the MPNP will also amount towards established connection to Manitoba.
  • No need to be in Manitoba when applying.

In this draw, the 23 candidates selected as per the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream were through Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream

As the name suggests, the skilled worker must be working in Manitoba. A full-time permanent job offer from the employer in Manitoba is also needed.

There are many other criteria to be fulfilled as well.

International Education Stream

The International Education Stream, on the other hand, invites Manitoba graduates with in-demand skills.

There are 3 sub-categories under the International Education Stream –

  • Student Entrepreneur Pathway
  • Graduate Internship Pathway
  • Career Employment Pathway

It is estimated that each year around 15,000 people from various countries move to Manitoba.

According to a recent survey, 95% of families that move to Manitoba settle permanently in the community.
