The interim Canada PR route for Caregivers is now open to applications from qualified in-home provisional overseas worker caregivers. These must have arrived in Canada after 30 November 2014.
The interim Canada PR route will be open until 4 June 2019. There is no cap on the number of applications that will be accepted. This was announced by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
The provisional route for Caregivers responds to concerns highlighted by some caregivers, said IRCC. These had arrived in Canada under 2 pilot programs. They are Caring for People with High Medical Needs or Caring for Children. These had arrived after 30 November 2014 and were not eligible for Canada PR, as quoted by the CIC News.
The provisional program is for people who obtained work experience through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program in Canada. This matches the original list of main duties and description for National Occupational Classification Group 4412 or 4411.
The candidates must intend to stay outside Quebec and fulfil the below requirements for being eligible:
Overseas credentials will need an ECA - Educational Credential Assessment. It must have been offered by an approved organization within 5 years prior to the application.
