Indian students obtained the highest 83, 410 Canada Student Visas in 2017 which was an increase of 58% over 2016. They have thus taken over the Chinese students as the largest recipients of Canada Student Visas.

The Chinese students were the largest recipients of the Canada Student Visas in 2015 and 2016. Meanwhile, Indians students obtained the highest number of Canada Student Visas in 2017. They received 26% of the total Student Visas offered by Canada in 2017.

This was in the period January and April 2018 when 28, 000 Student Visas were obtained by the Indians. On the other hand, Chinese students received 16, 925 visas, as quoted by the Times of India. These statistics are based on the data available on the website of the Government of Canada.

Canada had 4.95 lakh overseas students at the end of 2017 according to Canadian Bureau for International Education. It is a not-for-profit agency in the educational sector. This is an increase of 20% over 2016.

An IRCC Spokesperson has revealed the top 3 source nations for overseas students to Canada as of 3 December 2017. These are China with 1.40 lakh student, India with 1.24 lakh students and Korea with 23, 050 students, added the Spokesperson.

The application for Canada student visa is assessed on diverse factors. These include eligibility and admissibility evaluated via medical, language and finance aspects.

The education and work experience inclusive of internship are highly valued when it comes to finding jobs in Canada. College students in Canada including overseas students normally complete internship/work placement as a part of their course study. This helps in connecting with prospective employers.
