Schengen visa rules eased for Indian travelers.

The European Commission announced updates on Schengen Visa rules to make them more accessible for Indian citizens. Travelers from India can now apply for long-term multiple-entry visas. They are also eligible to get an extension of up to two years on the validity period of Schengen visas.

 

Indians can further follow up their long term visas with a 5-year Schengen Visa until their passport is valid. According to SchengenVisaInfo, the decision has been gladly welcomed by Indian citizens and the German consulate staff.

Travel Demand to increase from India to EU

Germany has recently witnessed a rapid growth in visa applications from India, as reported by the German Diplomat George Enzweiler. Visa applications in Germany rose to 130,000, and around 120,000 visas were granted in 2023.

 

Representatives from the travel and tourism sector expect a 15% increase in interest among Indians willing to travel to EU countries. There has been a hike of 12% in the number of Indians planning to travel to the Schengen countries as reported by Nishant Pitti, the CEO of the EaseMyTrip platform.
