The modification of UK Tier 2 Visas in April caused mush issues to the diverse business firms in the UK that recruited immigrants with the sponsorship licenses of this visa. However, the architect industry remains unaffected by these changes for their recruitment of non-EU highly-skilled workers.
Architects’ Journal has revealed in its latest report that the revised draft of the UK Tier 2 Visas will only facilitate the architect industry to further strengthen its decision to hire only non-EU staff.
Immigration industry experts have asserted that the architecture firms in the UK already stays away from the UK Tier 2 Visas owing to the existing rules, as quoted by the Work permit.
Jennifer Guillain Hoskins Architects’ Director of Finance and Development said that most of the architect firms in the UK will be unaffected by the modifications to the visas. He added that his firm already does not utilize the UK Tier 2 visa and same was the case with several other firms in the nation.
Architect firms in the UK were as it is forced to adopt alternatives to this visa even before the salary ceiling was hiked to 30,000 pounds from the existing 25,000 pounds and the latest fee for immigration skills. Hiring agencies had to place two kinds of adverts for jobs for resident workers from the EU or the UK to recruit for the jobs prior to exploring other options if vacancies remained unfulfilled.
Jennifer Guillain elaborated that upon advertising for job vacancies, the firms get flooded with applications from local workers. It also does not make any sense to recruit anyone who does not possess a visa over applicants who suit the job profile and are authorized to work in the UK.
