Indian students in the Humanities streams can now swap to the Sciences at the Undergraduate level. This was something that was unimaginable a few years ago but is a reality now.
Increased numbers of reputed institutions and universities in India are permitting this transition. They are permitting students to enroll in Sciences at the Undergraduate level irrespective of their past education.
Azim Premji University based in Bengaluru invites applications from any student who has secured minimum 50% in any stream at Class XII level. The applicants are required to clear entrance test at the national level and an interview, as quoted by the Hindu. Successful Indian students can select to major in Physics or Biology that are offered by the university.
Another millennial university situated at Sonepat, Haryana Ashoka also permits students to select Science major whatever their stream in Class XII was. However, this is after a rigorous process of selection.
Ashoka University also offers an additional advantage to the students. They are required to declare their major subject only at the conclusion of the 3rd semester. It permits the students to explore few interest areas prior to choosing one major.
KREA is a university that is being established in the north of Chennai at Sri City. Its academic programs at the Undergraduate level will be functional from 2019. This university is also backed by Raghuram Rajan the former RBI Governor and Narayanan Vaghul the former ICICI Bank Chairman.
KREA will offer Honors B.Sc program in Physical Sciences, Environmental Studies, Cognitive Sciences, and Life Sciences to students in any stream. The students will be sifted through a diverse stage selection process. Those selected will be then permitted to choose any major after the 2nd year of the Four year program.
