Cost of moving to the UK

The government increased the salary requirements for various visa types to curb migration to the country.

Some of the changes made to the UK visas are listed below:

 

Skilled Worker Visas

The UK maintains a points-based system for immigrants who wish to migrate to the country to study, work, or invest. Individuals looking to work in the UK via the points-based system must now have a job offer with £38,700 as the minimum salary requirement.

 

Applicants are required to score a minimum of 70 points, 50 of which are from a job offer and 20 from high salaries in sectors with a job shortage.

 

Exemptions for the UK skilled worker visa:

• The increase in salary threshold is not applicable for certain occupations with national pay scales, like teachers, healthcare workers, and social care workers.
• Overseas care workers can no longer have their families accompany them.

Family Visas

The minimum income threshold for individuals who wish to live with a relative in the UK for more than six months is set to increase. The revised threshold will increase to £34,500 and then £38,700 in the near future.

Student Visas

The UK recently announced changes in some of its policies for international students who wish to bring their families to the country.
