Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has commented on the immigration debate in the US, expressing support for stringent measures against illegal immigration and permitting more skilled workers to enter the nation lawfully. Musk also called out at the Biden administration for not putting efforts to curb illegal immigration.
Illegal immigration has taken cenere stage in the US particularly in major cities like New York, grappling with an influx of migrants facing housing and employment challenges.
He has called for a re-evaluation of the immigration system, emphasizing the need to make legal entry more accessible. He speaks about the current system for its difficulty in legal relocation, contrasting it with the apparent ease of illegal entry.
Employment authorization document, H-1B visa allows foreign nationals to enter the country in order to work for American businesses. This type of visa is intended for those who work in specialized fields where their knowledge is necessary and the employer cannot find a suitable employee in the United States.
Congress set a cap of 85,000 H-1B visas every year, of which 65,000 are issued under the standard cap and 20,000 are issued under the U.S. advanced degree exemption which is also known as the master's cap.
Musk suggests the need for increasing H-1B visa caps to accommodate the demand for skilled foreign workers.

Addressing the surge in illegal immigration, the U.S. recently reopened four authorized border crossings. The U.S. border authorities said that this decision was made as illegal immigrants entering the country has decreased, providing with allocation of more personnel.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that the international bridge located in Eagle Pass, Texas, as well as two of the crossings in Arizona and one close to San Diego, California, will be resuming operations.
