Dubai long-term Cultural Visa: the very first in the world

His Highness Sheikh Mohd. Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the ruler of Dubai and also the VP and PM of the UAE. He formally launched the Cultural Visa last week at a Dubai Culture and Arts Authority meeting. He also approved a new plan which will help turn Dubai’s vision to be a cultural hub into a reality.

HH Sheikh Mohd. tweeted that there are more than 6,000 companies in the UAE which are engaged in art and culture. There are also 20 museums and 5 creative complexes. Together, they can lay the foundation for a wide range of cultural activities and growth in arts.

The Dubai Literary Festival is an annual event that is sponsored by Emirates Airlines. The Dubai Film Festival is also a yearly event that attracts stars and fans alike of all film genres.

HH Sheikh Mohd. says that Dubai hosts more than 550 cultural events throughout the year which attracts foreign tourists by the millions.

The UAE also plans to set up 7 Schools of Life cultural centres. These centres will help the young generations to learn life skills in art, creativity and innovation. They will also help foster the love and appreciation of the written and spoken word in visual arts, performance and creative works.

“Art for Good” will facilitate the sale of art and craft sculptures globally. The funds will help make a difference to needy people in the country.
