Diverse issues have been highlighted by the latest UAE Visa amnesty. Financial advice, counseling and emotional support are crucial for families that are stuck in limbo. These are unable to clear their debts as well.

KV Shamsudheen has said that it is a social obligation to reach out to people who are depressed and in the financial crisis. He hosts a radio program on financial planning every week for Indian workers.

Each of us either as individuals or social workers can do our bit in speaking to people who are troubled said Shamsudheen. Many individuals are stuck, he added. They cannot leave unless they pay their debt and settle the cases against them, he informed.

The people who are in limbo want to apply for UAE Visa amnesty. But they are stuck in the debt trap. The program permits immigrants to adjust their status without punishment. This is if they have arrived illegally to UAE or overstayed. It was launched in August and extended two times. The program will expire at the end of December, as quoted by the National AE.

Ras Al Khaimah an Indian social worker took his own life last week after business failure said Shamsudheen. He was forced to send his family to India, said the radio program host. Individuals like him can be saved if they are offered the required support, said Shamsudheen.

Social workers and Lawyers in UAE have said that residents must be cautioned against giving security deposits and post-dated cheques. This is in the absence of adequate funds.

Post-dated cheques are normally used as a form of security and guarantee in business transactions in the UAE. They are held anticipating payment receipt in the future.
