China and Armenia have mutually decided to lift the visa requirements from 19th January 2020. Citizens of Armenia will no longer need a visa for China and vice versa, as announced by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
Citizens of Armenia and China would be able to travel or transit through the host country without a visa with effect from 19th January. Armenian citizens would be able to stay in China for up to 90 days in a 180-day period. The same is true for Chinese citizens travelling to Armenia.
However, if the intended stay is more than the stipulated 90 days, travellers will need to apply for a visa prior to the trip.
China and Armenia signed an agreement in May 2019. The agreement removed the visa requirements for citizens of both countries.
As per the National Statistical Committee of Armenia, more than 8,500 Chinese nationals visited Armenia in 2018.
