The Canadian tech sector is at an advantage due to the immigration policies such as the Global Skills Strategy program said Justin Trudeau the Prime Minister of Canada. We aim to ensure that the tech sector in Canada has access to the best overseas and domestic talents. This is proving to be beneficial in the international economy, he added.

Trudeau was speaking at an interview inaugurating the Collision Conference 2019 in Toronto. It was for the first time in 5 years that the conference of global tech leaders was held outside the US.

The organizers of the conference chose Toronto over the US due to its status as an international tech hub. The city is on its way to overtake the Silicon Valley in terms of growth of IT jobs, as quoted by the CIC News.

The Canadian Prime Minister was interviewed by the CEO and Founder of Broadband TV Shahrzad Rafati. Canada must remain open to overseas talents and referred to programs like the Global Skills Strategy created by his government. The GSS along with the expanding levels of immigration are creating an advantage for the Canadian tech sector, said Trudeau.  The Global Talent Scheme under the GSS processes Canada Work Visas in as less as 14 days time.

The Prime Minister of Canada said that at present big nations in the world are adopting protectionist policies. They are closing their doors to immigration and Canada realizes that it must remain open. We must ensure that we continue to attract the brightest and best global talents, he explained.

We would also like to ensure that the domestic students and workers in Canada also have access to the appropriate opportunities in the tech sector said, Trudeau. This is by investing in the education system in Canada, research, and innovation, he added.

People across the globe are really anxious and this is manifesting in diverse ways said, Justin Trudeau. It can be nationalism or populism, he added. What is vital is to ensure that there is space for growth for all. All must fell that there is a pathway for them and their children in technology, explained Trudeau.
