Hurry! Canada PGP Program will reopen on 28 January

The Canada PGP Program will reopen on 28 January announced the Government of Canada. This is for interested sponsors who want to bring over their Grandparents and Parents to Canada.

The Program permits Canada nationals and PR holders to sponsor their grandparents and parents for Canada PR Visa. The sponsoring applicants must be 18 plus years of age, as quoted by the CIC News.

Around 20,000 fresh applications will be processed in 2019. This was revealed by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Inclined sponsors will be required to first complete a form for Interest to Sponsor online. The form for the Canada PGP Program will be made available on 28 January at noon Eastern Standard Time.

The Interest to Sponsor forms will be processed by IRCC in their order of receipt. Invitations to apply for the Canada PGP program will be offered till the cap of 20,000 complete applications is achieved.

The first-served first-arrived approach for accepting applications will be adopted by IRCC. It replaces the contentious process of random lottery that was introduced in 2019 and later ended.

Completing the IOS form is not an application in itself. It just informs IRCC that you would like to be considered as a prospective sponsor.

The interested sponsors must first review the qualifying requirements said IRCC. This is to ensure that they fulfil all the criteria inclusive of the ceiling for Necessary Minimum Income. Potential sponsors are also required to file a copy of status in Canada while submitting their IOS form.

All the applicants who have submitted the IOS form online will be intimated if they have been offered the ITA or not. Those who receive the ITA will be given 60 days for submitting the complete application. This is inclusive of all supporting documents.
