In the latest Express Entry Draw #162 held on September 2, 2020 at 14:17:32 UTC, the Canadian government has invited 4,200 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residence. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score required was that of CRS 475.

The previous Express Entry draw was held on August 20, 2020.

As no program was specified for the draw, Express Entry candidates eligible for any of the following were considered –

Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP]
Federal Skilled Trades People [FSTP]
Canadian Experience Class [CEC]
Provincial Nominee Program [PNP]

A tie-breaking rule of August 16, 2020 at 01:22:18 UTC was applied in the latest draw. The tie-breaking rule comes into play when more than 1 candidates have the minimum required cut-off score.

As per Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC], “If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.” Put simply, profiles submitted to the Express Entry pool earlier get precedence over profiles submitted later.

The large number of invitations issued in the latest draw is the most Invitations to Apply [ITAs] issued since the imposition of the COVID-19 special measures in Canada on March 18. With 4,200 ITAs issued on September 2, Canada has confirmed its commitment to welcoming large numbers of immigrants in the near future.

6 months is the standard processing timeframe for Canadian permanent residence applications submitted through the Express Entry System.

Total 29 Express Entry draws held in 2020 so far.
