The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in a recent report, has praised Canada for its efforts in the recruitment and welcoming of foreign workers.
Committed to creating “better policies for better lives”, the OECD is an international organization with almost 60 years’ experience. Working alongside policy makers, governments and citizens, the OECD seeks to establish international norms and come up with solutions for effectively tackling various economic, environmental, and social challenges.
In its report, the OECD has also praised the selection process of Canada where it comes to foreign workers.
In a year, as many as 85,000 economic immigrants are settled in Canada.
The number of immigrant intake in Canada is a point of much political discussion. While some in the political field are of the opinion that the number is too high, there are others that believe that many more foreign workers are required to address the labor shortage.
Integration of the economic immigrants into the culture and life in Canada is always under focus.
In its analysis, the OECD has also found that those immigrants that are recruited and find settlement through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) conducted by the individual provinces in Canada often fare better than the other immigrants who enter Canada through the different federal programs.
The report by OECD comes at quite a convenient time. The federal elections for Canada are to be held on October 21, 2019. Immigration policies and intake will be an important consideration in the upcoming federal elections.
