parents to the UAE

You can now get your parents to the UAE on a Visitor Visa without paying a security deposit. The security deposit is a refundable amount that is charged by the GDRFA- Dubai (General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs).

If you have budget constraints, this could help you save a significant amount. Numerous travel agencies in the UAE can help bring your parents into the country without the additional fee.

What are the benefits?

No security deposit:

When bringing your parents through such travel agencies, the agency acts as a sponsor for your parents. Hence, you do not need to pay the security deposit charged by the GDRFA.

When applying for a visa through the GDRFA, you have to pay a security deposit of Dh 1,020 for immediate family. Immediate family include your parents, siblings and children.

For other blood relatives like grandparents, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren, you need to pay Dh 2,020 to the GDRFA.

You need to pay this hefty fee when a travel agency sponsors your parents.

Lesser paperwork:

A valid travel agency will do all the paperwork for you. Since you do not “sponsor” your parents, you need lesser paperwork.

What documents are needed for a travel agency-sponsored Visit Visa?

You will need the following documents:

  1. A copy of the passport of the guarantor. You will need a copy of the first, last and visa pages of the passport.
  2. A copy of your Emirates ID
  3. A copy of the passport of each of the visitors. You will need a copy of the first and the last page.
  4. Each visitor’s photograph taken against a white background
  5. In case of your spouse, the spouse name should be mentioned on your passport
  6. For certain visitors, you may need a deposit of around Dh 5,500. However, this does not apply for family visas.

What does the visa cost?

  • 14 day Visitor Visa: Dh 295 per person
  • 30-day single-entry Visitor Visa: Dh 305 per person
  • 90-day single-entry Visitor Visa: Dh 749 per person
  • 30-day multiple-entry Visitor Visa: Dh 950 per person
  • 90-day multiple-entry Visitor Visa: Dh 2,150 per person
  • 30-day Express Visitor Visa: Dh 450
  • 90-day Express Visitor Visa: Dh 950

What is the processing time of the visa?

Generally, the Visitor Visa takes 3 to 5 working days to process. However, it may take longer.

Is the visa fee refundable?

No, the visa fee is not refundable.

What should be the validity of your passport at the time of applying?

Your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date of your travel.
