UK Visa

The biased UK visa rules have been disapproved by the skilled overseas immigrant workers including IT workers, Engineers, and Doctors. They will stage a protest against the discriminatory rules of the UK Home Office outside the Downing Street.

The skilled immigrant workers intend to enhance the awareness regarding the hostile, inhumane, and discriminatory UK visa rules. The group is named as Highly Skilled Immigrants. It represents more than 600 IT workers, Engineers, Doctors, and Teachers, as quoted by the Guardian.  The focus of the protest is on applicants who apply for ILR in the UK after residing on the General Tier 1 Visa.

One of the organizers of the protest Aditi Bhardwaj said that these skilled workers have spent more than 10 years in the UK. They have worked in highly reputed professions. Majority of them were in acute skill shortage of jobs and contributed more than 25 billion pounds to the UK economy, added Bhardwaj.

Highly skilled immigrants are being more and more denied the permit to reside in the UK. This is through a provision of the Immigration Act. This act is designed to take care of those who pose risk to national security and criminals.

Bhardwaj said that ILR is being denied to skilled immigrants on the basis of tax error correction. This is due to past minor errors in the tax returns that have been paid off and rectified way back, added Bhardwaj.

Immigration rules permit Home Office to deny the application on the basis of their conduct and character making them adverse for residence in the UK. Even the UK Financial Act 2007 does not make tax error rectification unlawful, added Bhardwaj.
