The number 1 University in New Zealand continues to be the University of Auckland. According to the QS World University Rankings for 2019, it is ranked 85th in the world.
The University of Otago drops down to the 175th rank in the world in 2019. Established in 1869, it is the oldest University in New Zealand. This University has 20,838 students of which 2,837 are international students.
This University was established in 1897 and currently ranks 221st in the world.
The University of Canterbury ranks 231st in the world. Established in 1873, it is one of the oldest Universities in New Zealand with a student population of 14,000.
The University of Waikato jumped up 18 places to rank 274th in the world in 2019. The University is based in Hamilton but it also runs a campus in Tauranga.
Lincoln University went up two places in 2019 to rank 317th in the world. The QS World University Rankings rated it in the top 50 of the world for agriculture.
Massey University has dropped slightly to rank 332nd in the world in 2019. This is the only University in the country to offer courses on aviation, veterinary medicine, nanoscience and dispute resolution.
Established in 1895, Auckland University of Technology ranks 464th in the world in 2019. It is ranked 23rd in the world for percentage of foreign students indicator, as per Top Universities.
