Azerbaijan to offer e-Visa to Overseas Immigrants

Azerbaijan has simplified its Visa Application process for Overseas Immigrants. The country has introduced an electronic Visa system for short-term Visas. Prime Minister Ilham Aliyev confirmed that the changes will be effective from February 1 2019.

The Visa processing time could drop from 10 to 5 days with the new Visa system in place. Back in March 2013, the country had introduced an electronic application system. That had got visitors over 45000 Visas for travelling to the country.

Azerbaijan aims at providing a simple and fast Visa system to Overseas Immigrants. They want to make the process as easy as possible. Also, they are planning to reduce travel costs so that more tourists choose to travel there.

Overseas Immigrants can acquire the e-Visa through various travel agencies. However, these agencies must be accredited through the country’s Tourism Ministry. The list is available on the Azerbaijan Tourism Ministry website. Also, the Azerbaijan Embassies in foreign countries can guide Overseas Immigrants on the same.

Overseas Immigrants can apply for the e-Visa through an email or phone call to the travel agency. The fee for the same is $20. The following mandatory documents should be submitted -

  • A complete e-Visa application form
  • The form should be signed
  • Passport size photographs
  • Colored copy of passport
  • Travel itinerary

The country’s capital Baku is the main tourist attraction. It is located at the meeting point of Asia and Europe. The place is rich with scenic beauty, history and diverse culture. The Government has taken a number of measures to make it a favorable tourist destination.

As quoted by the Trend News Agency, the Azerbaijan Government is trying to negotiate with many airlines. Discussions on low-cost flights are underway. Also, the Government is trying to increase the number of flights from abroad to the country. It is home to some beautiful cities. Ticket prices are also cheaper at some of the places.

Presently, 5 regions in Azerbaijan have airports:

  • Ganja
  • Gabala
  • Nakhchivan
  • Lankaran
  • Zaqatala

Airline companies from Turkey and Russia carry out flights to the above-mentioned regions. However, the companies are hit with a financial crisis. Overseas Immigrants now try to save money on abroad trips. Hence, the companies have to reduce flight fares. The Azerbaijan Airlines have announced reduced flight fare for round-trips applicable from February 1 2019. These flights would fly to popular destinations like UAE, Iran, Georgia and Russia.

The airlines said they want to continue working in this direction. At the same time, they would negotiate with foreign counterparts to send out flights to new destinations.
