491 Visa

From Monday, June 15, 2020, New South Wales [NSW] to start accepting applications for NSW nomination for the Skilled Work Regional [Provisional] visa [subclass 491].

Applications will be accepted till Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

Assessment of the same will be completed by the end of the financial year – Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

Despite the opening of the 491 sponsorship category, NSW is unable to accept any applicants that are outside the NSW on account of the current situation, border closures, as well as the limited time left for the financial year to end.

Applicants that are living in NSW – in the designated areas of NSW – for more than 12 months are only eligible for applying.

In order to be considered eligible to apply, the candidate must –

  • Meet the Department of Home Affairs’ requirements for subclass 491
  • Have an occupation listed on the NSW Stream 1 Regional Skilled Occupation List
  • Been living in NSW in a designated regional area for a minimum of previous 12 months
  • Been working in NSW in a designated regional area for a minimum of previous 12 months
  • Been working either in their nominated occupation or a closely related occupation for a minimum of previous 12 months

Those not meeting ALL the above-mentioned requirements will not be able to apply for the NSW 491 nomination that opens on June 15, 2020.

The NSW Migration Strategy has been drawn up for supporting the NSW economy by attracting skilled business, and investor migrants to NSW and nominating them for a visa.

The regional area in NSW offers many similar lifestyle benefits, work conditions and services as available anywhere across the major Australian cities.

Almost 2.6 million people live in regional New South Wales. The regional cities in NSW provide full facilities and amenities.
