Australia invites 110 in latest SkillSelect round of invitations

Managed by the Department of Home Affairs of the Australian government, SkillSelect is used for making an expression of interest [EOI] profile if a businessperson or skilled worker plans on migrating overseas to Australia.

As per the results declared of the Australia SkillSelect October round of invitations, a total of 110 immigration candidates have received invitations on October 21, 2020.

Invitation rounds for Skilled Work Regional [Provisional] visa [subclass 491] – Family Sponsored visas and Skilled Independent visa [subclass 189] are typically run once every month.

A total of 110 invitations were issued in the October 21 round of SkillSelect invitations –

It is the highest-ranked profiles based on their points score that are issued invitations. In situations wherein more than one profiles have equal points scores, it is the time that they had reached their score [for that subclass] – that is, the “date of effect” – that will determine their order of being invited.

Basically, those with EOIs created earlier gain precedence over those created at a comparatively later date.

In the October 21 SkillSelect round of invitations, the latest date of effect month was that of 09/2020. For the subclass 491, on the other hand, the latest date of effect month was that of 04/2020.

Specific occupation groups are to be subject to a pro rata arrangement throughout the 2020-21 program year. With a pro rata arrangement in place, SkillSelect will first allot the spaces to those applying under subclass 189.

Remaining spaces will then be for subclass 491 applicants.

As per the DoHA, the pro rata arrangement ensures “availability of invitations across the program year”.
