Australia plans to reduce its immigration intake by 50% over the next two years, focusing on stricter visa requirements for low-skilled workers and international students. The changes include enhanced screening for second visa applications and higher English proficiency exam scores.

Additionally, Australia introduces the "Skills in Demand" visa which will replace the Temporary Talent Shortage (Subclass 482) visa, and offers pathways for specialized talents, core skills, and vital skills. The visa is valid for 4 year period and provides clear path to permanent residency, aligning with Australia's goal to fill skill gaps and enhance worker mobility.
