Canada’s Alberta releases details of the latest round of invitations held by the province, the second draw to be held by Alberta in 2022.
On January 18, 2022, Alberta invited another 350 candidates to apply for being nominated by the province for permanent residence in Canada.
Alberta is a part of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), the route to Canada PR that goes through the provincial and territorial (PT) governments.
Alberta PNP is officially referred to as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. Invitations by the AINP are also known as Notification of Interest (NOI) Letters.
An Overview of January 18 AINP draw | ||
Category | Number of Invitations Issued | Ranking score of the lowest-ranked federal Express Entry candidate invited |
Alberta Express Entry Stream | 350 | CRS 346 |
Note. CRS: Comprehensive Ranking System, a 1,200-points matrix used for ranking Express Entry profiles.
The Alberta Express Entry Stream is linked with the federal Express Entry system managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
67 points must be scored by an individual before they can create an Express Entry profile. An application for permanent residence can only be submitted through Express Entry when invited by IRCC to do so.
A PNP nomination guarantees an Express Entry invitation to apply from IRCC.
Three of the main economic immigration programs of Canada come under Canada’s Express Entry – the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Some PNP streams are also linked to IRCC Express Entry.
For a nomination under any of the Express Entry linked PNP streams, an individual will be required to fulfil the specific eligibility requirements of the province/territory as well as be eligible for at least one of the Express Entry programs.
Under its Express Entry Stream selection, Alberta PNP regularly reviews the candidates available in the IRCC Express Entry pool.
Candidates are selected by Alberta PNP based on the information in their Express Entry profile. The shortlisted candidates are then issued invitations – through Notification of Interest (NOI) Letters – asking them to submit a completed application to the AINP.
12 jobs are in high demand in Alberta due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
